I am a registered board-certified art therapist, licensed professional counselor, licensed certified art therapist and art therapy certified supervisor. I specialize in the treatment of trauma and have completed Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) training to treat trauma resolution with clients. I also have completed Level 1 training in Internal Family Systems.

I reside and work on the Ahantchuyuk, Atfalati, Kalapuya and Clackamas lands. In my journey of unpacking my social identity I have come to understand a long history of generations of people in my family who have benefited from colonization. As a cis-gender queer, able bodied White female, I acknowledge that my social position provides me with a lot of social, cultural and political power of which I try to bring cultural humility and authenticity to my relationships and work.

Hi, I'm Dr. Mary Andrus (she/her). I am passionate about art therapy, helping people find their creative voice, finding play and connecting with themselves through ART.

I believe that the act of making art and reflecting on oneself can be transformative. I am passionate about creating opportunities for all people to reach their full potential through creativity using art as a mirror. My approach as a therapist is centered on creating a nurturing non-judgemental relationship to build trust and explore oneself. I bring curiousity, compassion, creativity, and care to support clients to deeply know and understand themselves. Together we honor the client’s experience and use art as a window of understanding, as a process to explore parts of oneself or as a way of externalizing or witnessing for deeper understanding.

Living in the Pacific Northwest for the past 10 years, I’m proud to call Oregon my home. I wear many hats, educator, therapist, filmmaker, activist, mom… I am a studio-based art therapist, where I use creative embodied art media and materials to support people with their goals.

I have been in the field of art therapy for 25+ years. I spearheaded the Art Therapy License in Oregon, specialize in treating trauma, have published many book chapters, articles and made many films about art therapy.

I am available for virtual individual counseling, consultation, ATR and LPC supervision, and workshops for clinicians. I offer in-person group supervision utilizing an embodied somatic studio based approach.

Rates:

Initial intake (75 mins): $255

This meeting is to give us an opporunity to discuss history, presenting concerns and how best to move forward with care.

Individual Counseling Sessions

55 min: $187/ 75 min: $255
Limited sliding scale slots are available.

Supervision

Individual (60 min) $105

Group supervision $40/hr

2 hr group virtual or 3 hr in person group offered monthly
(minimum 4 people, max 6 people in each group)

Consultation (15 min) $51

Cancellation fee: 48 hr notice is required for any cancellations without incurring the full fee.

Insurance
I am out of network for all insurance providers. I am happy to provide a payment receipt (Super Bill) that you may submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.
